Trainee Solicitor Scheme

Applications for our 2020 Trainee Scheme is now open. A training contract at Tughans represents a fantastic opportunity for talented and ambitious people to gain invaluable legal training in one of Northern Ireland’s most successful law firms.

We are authorised by the Law Society of Northern Ireland to provide training to students who have obtained a place at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS Scheme) and we are also approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority to provide training to students who have completed the Legal Practice Course in England and Wales (LPC Scheme).

Over the course of 2 years, our Trainees have the opportunity to sit in a minimum of 4 different departments, both contentious and non-contentious.

We provide a network of support, including expert supervision, and offer significant scope for personal development.  Our trainees are truly part of the fabric of the firm and have opportunities to be involved in the many social and charitable activities which happen throughout the year.

Tughans has a strong record of being able to offer newly qualified solicitor positions to its trainees at the end of their training contracts.

The application process for our 2020 Trainee Scheme is now open, visit our website to find out more and to download the application form.

Tughans accept applications for students who are completing their qualification through the ILPS and LPC route.

The closing date for applications is 31 October 2019.  Shortlisting will take place in December and the assessment centre will run in early January 2019.

Successful applicants will commence their training contract in September 2020.

We will be hosting an open evening on Thursday 10th October for anyone who wishes to find out more about our Trainee Scheme at 6pm at Marlborough House, 30 Victoria Street, Belfast, BT 1 3GG.

This is an excellent opportunity for ambitious graduates to join a leading commercial law firm.
