Brothers Thomas & Stuart Musgrave started the family-owned business in 1876 and the Musgrave Group today is one of Ireland’s largest and most successful companies, serving more than 3,600 retail stores throughout Ireland, the UK and Spain. Musgrave is primarily a supermarket and convenience store franchiser and wholesaler, operating the SuperValu and Centra supermarket chains across the Island of Ireland, Mace in Northern Ireland (NI), and a number of fascia’s in Spain. It also supplies foodservice operators and operates cash & carry outlets across the Island of Ireland and in Spain. Across the island of Ireland, there are two other brands are Frank and Honest Coffee within our stores and Chipmongers, a franchise model within the foodservice sector.
In 2017 Musgrave Group had retail sales of €5.1 billion and wholesale sales of €3.7 billion. They are also Ireland’s largest private sector employer with over 40,000 employees.
